Still early days - but the diary is beginning to flex its muscles. A few "what’s this all about then" calls, and email offers of support (to which I will reply, fear not, and you know who you are). i have even found myself wondering if a reprieve of the guestbook might be appropriate if I take on the task of reading/responding on a daily basis.
The transformation necessary within DGM and my own working practices becomes clearer on a daily basis. Without wanting to expose personal issues beyond my own, DGM has always operated in defiance of place ie. we have worked as a global company, running on a global timescale despite being situated in rural Broadchalke. Over the years, rust has set in - and we increasingly operate in Broadchalke on a cosy, comfortable Broadchalke timescale. To misquote Robert’s view of his native Wimborne, this is at least three times slower than London (which was then three times slower than New York). That will, and must, change. This website itself, for example, while wonderful when it was built, needs rebuilding (and not by Eric the Wonder Bee who so bravely threw his hat into the ring last time around). And it needs to happen soon.
So work in progress.
On a practical level, I am excited at the plans for the year - and at the music flowing through the studio - and will endeavour to find some way of sharing it in close-to-real-time through this diary.
